India witnessed the ugliest attack on its boundaries by a group of terrorists the past week. A group of twenty terrorists reportedly entered the country by a boat form the neighbouring country of Pakistan. Pakistan has always been a rallying point for terrorists around the world. According to experts Pakistan provides the biggest hurdle and difficulty in tackling world terrorism. These terrorists ran amuck by bombing almost four locations .They took control of The Taj hotel, the trident oberoi and the nariman house. They killed almost 200 people including 20 foreign nationals. This included almost 6 Americans and a dozen Israeli nationals. This blatant attack on India has drawn severe criticism from various countries. The Indian people are also very agitated on their politicians and are demanding some serious action. The attack has been attributed to poor coordination between various departments and the lack of intelligence warnings. India has been keen on setting up an internal cell on preventing terrorism. The recent terror attacks also served as a remainder to other countries of the world that they are not safe yet. The diplomatic ties between india and Pakistan have worsened following the attacks. India has claimed that it has unearthed serious evidence of a Pakistani hand in the attacks.

We know that globalisation and outsourcing are important and also economically necessary. There is also a flipside to the story. This globalisation has helped millions from the countries of china and India become successful. They have been shown the door to new vistas. All these days it was the developed countries which were successful and had a huge share of the energy pie. Now the countries such as India and china have joined the party and are demanding an almost equal share of the pie. This has led to an energy crisis. In the years 1950-1970 the power consumption the world rose by a margin of 5%.This might very well be the case again with the newer countries joining the action and are looking towards newer and luxurious means of living. From the industrial revolution up to the late 1900’s the world was of the opinion that the fossil fuels were inexhaustible and benign. Then they realised that these fossils were indeed coming to an end. What further came as a shock was the toxic characteristics of the fossil fuels and that they aid in climate change. The world is currently in a state of denial. It is the politicians who can rescue us from this unique situation. We should realise that this situation is a threat to the world at large.

This is the latest fear of the developed world. The world is entirely dependent on fossil fuels and petroleum products for its growth. Millions of dollars are transferred every day to the middle-east which has strengthened the kingdoms of the middle-east countries. These countries do not support the democratic principles at all. We are not even able to speak against these countries because of the fear that they may limit oil exports. These countries have been reportedly supporting terrorist groups in these areas. These countries consist of staunch Muslims who have never liked the western powers and would do anything to bring America to the knees. The threats of petro-dictatorship have been renewed after Russia suspended the oil exports to Ukraine. This was done when a pro-western government was established in Ukraine after the orange revolution.Russia which was an unwelcome member in the European parties has grown from strength to strength .Russia has now bullied its neighbours and the whole of Europe is worried if they will be next. Russia has almost one third of the world’s gas reserves. they have the potential to be the next big dictator of the world. It cannot be said that Russia has improved educationally or economically .But it has still become a force to reckon with just because of its oil and gas reserves.

The world is considered flat at large. This does not mean that that the world is geographically flat or that the differences in the world have been flattened out. This just means that the forces which were acting to make work specific to a certain country or context are slowly starting to dissipate. Work is slowly starting to get spread out around the world. All the American companies have the back office work shifted to India. This means that whatever calls we can get for marketing or the calls we make to get our doubts regarding a product are either coming from India or being routed to India or another third world country. This allows the company to not only concentrate more on its customers and the front office work it also generates a substantial profit for them. This process of outsourcing has been aided by standardisation in all the countries. We have a workflow model which has the same standards. If an architect in India uses AutoCAD to draw his design and this can be mailed digitally and viewed in the USA in no time. Similarly with the increased use of MS office all documents have become seamless. I am just giving a few examples here. All software has become seamless and this has aided in this revolution and bringing business closer.

What the world now needs is a green revolution. We have to create numerous green collar jobs.We must create new technology to replace the existing product development principles which are increasingly dependent on fossil fuels and petroleum. This is only adding the monarchies of the middle east in strengthening the positions with the petro dollars. They are against the very principles of democracy that we stand for and are acting unquestioned .We can also create new jobs and revolutionise our country. This green revolution can prove to a rallying force which provides a new direction to the country. In the mid 1900s it was the cold war which inspired us to be the best. This green war can follow the red wave and we can prove to be the leaders. In fact which ever country takes the first initiative will emerged as the winner. A little known country has created a magnificent power system based on wind energy. They have created so many jobs and their economy has become stronger in the last decade. This country is Denmark .For every windmill produced in the world Denmark produces two. This is the level of energy independence they have achieved.

The world is increasingly becoming a level playing field. It is now possible for a company in USA to outsource its back office jobs to a country like china ,india or brazil for a cost that is one-tenth of what it has to pay in its own country. This has revolutionised the business operation. This kind of confluence in business work process has changed the way the game is played. The outsourcing model in itself has come under flak from the people in the developed countries. This is because jobs are shipped out to other countries and so the native people with education which is not specialised lose their jobs. The only solution to this to continue specilaising and building your profile. You should never be static and keep updating your skills.Though the outsourcing process shifts a few jobs out odf the country it does help the country achieve greater growth and profits in the broader sense. Outsourcing is no longer a luxury for big business it has become the order of the day. Outsourcing has become a necessity.Every major company has offices in the subcontinent and south asia. The level of human power and the cheap rates they have to offer has made it a magnet for these companies. Moreover these companies are not bound by social security or insurance in thes countries. This kind of outsourcing has made many families in the developing countries middle class.

This world today is at a crucial moment in its entire history, And the most interesting part is that we as individuals can influence the direction this world is going to take in the next decade. There are three broad problems that are haunting this world. These are climate change, terrorism and over population. It has been estimated that that the population of the world is going to be nearly 9.5 billion in 2050.To realise the magnitude of these numbers let me give you an example. Consider a person who was born in 1960 and he lives a span of 90 years and dies in 2050.he population of the world in 1950 was 2.7 billion and in 2050 it is estimated to touch 9 billion which is a 3 fold increase, within the lifetime of an individual. We have seen an complete paradigm shift within just one hundered years. The next problem is climate change which has been widely discussed. Consider the two above said problems acting simultaneously. If the population of the world is going to increase by 1 billion in the next ten years and each person needs atleast a light bulb, that is 20000 megawatts of energy. That needs about 40 coal based power stations. This is the situation we are in right now.we need to act fast and smart to control the situation,we as a country should set the precedent for the change.I will discuss the next problem in my next few posts.

This term is a puzzle for the layman. The irony is industrial globalization is the one concept that rules over their entire life, though they do not even know what it means. That is the most interesting fact about it. It rules people without the people realizing it! Just imagine a world without it. I know it is difficult to even imagine it. A country might be a super power or the richest in the world, but, it has to depend on some other country for one thing or the other. Consider America. Considered to be torch holder of the world, where came the cause for it to wage war on Iraq? Though it has all the resources, it falls short of the requisite amount of oil resources. That is the reason for waging war against Iraq. Now what has that got to do globalization? Globalization can avoid so many such problems! Countries can exchange resources. For instance, America could get Oil from Iraq in return for automobiles. Of course this is possible only if America and other nations give up their false prestige and give the welfare of all the countries first! To put globalization in the simplest terms, I would say globalization is “Everything for everyone!”

The bailouts in the face of the recent economic crisis across the world have been the moot point all across the world. These have been fiercely supported by the government and also opposed by pundits across the world for being supporting to the weaklings and supporting and aiding bad decision makers.
The argument of the government is that the effect will inevitably trickle down .This can save a large number of jobs and can create new ones restricting the layoffs to a bare minimum. This trickle down effect will further the cause.
On the other hand the opposers argue that these companies have not evolved properly and have suffered from improper management and have not performed according to expectations. They are just looking to cash in on the chaos.
There are also arguments to socialise the auto industry.Take into the auto industry into the governments hands and make cars more cheaper and produce electric cars and take the dependence on oil nations away.
They also say that bailing them sets a wrong precedent and encourages bad management decisions. This is the right time to start a green wave and we don’t need the gas guzzling cars we have now.We have to find the right ways to get to the right path.

We all now that the climate change is one of the gravest problems .There comes the new carbon trading industry. Let me explain to you what carbon trading means. The word carbon trading is a misnomer. Unlike oil trading or wheat or any other commodity trading carbon trading does not actually mean trading carbon as a product. It more so means trading of carbon credit.
Carbon credit is explained as below. Consider a certain country x where a company p produces certain carbon or GHG(green house gases) amount which exceeds the amount stipulated by country x,then it can buy certain credit from company q belonging to country y which has maintained its limit under the levels of country y. Thus according to legal terms the company x buys the right to buy carbon as credits from company y. Atleast on paper it works as the overall carbon produced is under control .The implementation suffers two setbacks. Companies which have lots of revenue are allowed to pay for their emissions at the cost of other companies and also the price of each unit of carbon is still very less to cause considerable panic in the industry. Also stricter rules such as tax cuts for the companies which exceed limits are more viable, this is extremely impossible as these companies sponsor even the campaign of the president. The cartel is controlling the government.
